Google Image Optimization…….

July 29, 2008

Google image optimization is not a complex process. It is all about paying attention to labeling and use of images within the framework of your website. Image optimization involves certain basic search optimization factors like relevant keywords in the content, title and meta tags. One way to get more search engine traffic is to optimize your website for Google Image Search, a tool which allows users to easily find images by typing in specific search terms, phrases and keywords. It is obvious that the main purpose of Google Images Search optimization is to drive more traffic to your website. Images can not only make your website visually attractive; they can help you to get more search engine traffic.

Inserting keywords into your Alt Text (<img alt=””>)is a critically importantpart of image optimization and you should include a keyword or phrase that is appropriate to the image and your webpage. The alt text should be inserted in the code for your image file. It is preferable to name the images in exactly the same way as in the Alt text. It will be advantageous if the descriptive text along with your targeted keywords is placed immediately before or after the image itself.

Insert an Adsense unit on the page where your Google images are placed and observe what type of Adsense ads come up. This will give you an indication what Google thinks about the overall theme of your page. You should change your content till the Adsense units reflect the keywords you want to target. Optimizing your title and Meta tags is an important part of your overall optimization strategy as that would help your site to rank better in image searches as well. This will give you better visibility in Google’s main search engine

Quick Traffic Building

1. You need to search engine optimize your web site. You must rearrange the contents of your web site to make it search engine friendly. Also, you must submit your web site to the web directories and the search engines.

2. Link popularity of a web site is very important in building web traffic. If a web site has lots of links placed at proper places on the web, the chances of getting more web traffic will increase. This will increase the chances of your business to succeed.

3. If you want to build traffic towards your web site, you can also use email marketing as a tool. Send out promotional emails with the link to your web site. This will help you in getting lots and lots of responses. Be sure that the list of email addresses you are using is an authentic one.

4. You can also use RSS feeds to build traffic towards your web site. RSS feeds help you in getting more web traffic. You may need to pay the host web site for placing your content on that website, but you will earn a lot through the web site visitors.

How to Calculate Web Traffic

July 14, 2008

When Google and other search engine Trends for Websites, there were three main ways to calculate web traffic. The first is based on users downloading and installing software on their computers that tracks surfing habits. Internet wide traffic data is then determined based on what was gathered from these users. One example of this type of traffic calculation is the Alexa Toolbar. They rank sites based on how many users visit it through their toolbar in Internet Explorer and various sidebars in Mozilla and Netscape. Unfortunately, there is some controversy about how accurate their sample data is compared to the overall Internet population, not to mention possible sample biases.

Another service similar to Alexa is Compete, but they only track traffic in the U.S. They use data from ISPs, opt-in panels, application providers, and its toolbar. The main problem with these sites is that they are self-selecting services, meaning users choose to put them on their computers. There may be differences (in this case, what sites they visit) between people who choose to use software like this and those that don’t. Comscore has tried to mitigate this problem, but it tends to work better for larger, more established sites. They are also rather expensive. Read the rest of this entry »

Competitive Analysis

July 9, 2008

How to Compete for Various Keywords:- Once you’ve determined the keyword competitors, you need to determine the factors that might be in play to help these Web sites to rank, while yours may not.there are some pretty consistent things that you can look for to better compete for various keywords:

  • Age of Domain: Many people getting into business on the Web for the first time don’t know this simple rule. Buying an aged domain saves you a great amount of time. While you’re at it, buy a domain that already has links pointing to it (links from within your chosen industry, ideally). When you look at the Web sites that are ranking for your selected keywords, you’ll most likely see a trend that those listed on the first page of the search results are many years old. This could be because it took that long to generate enough quality links/content, but an aged domain is certainly one of the most important factors that goes into getting a Web site to rank.
  • Pages Indexed: This is what I refer to as the “Wikipedia effect.” Wikipedia is an extremely deep Web site, with only one page relevant to your search. Why does it keep showing up when you’re searching? Because the search engines have determined that the Web site — as a whole — is an “authority” site. That is, it’s deep with quality content Wikipedia has more than 380 million pages indexed in Yahoo.
  • Linking: Through an easy “site:www.sitename.com” search on Yahoo, you can see the pages indexed and links indexed for any Web site that you’re analyzing. Click on the “Inlinks” link and use the drop down to select “except from this domain,” so that you aren’t counting those internal links in your analysis.

Social Bookmarking ??

July 5, 2008

For Better SERP you should seriously consider posting your content to the social bookmarking sites. Sites like Digg, Twitter, and Technorati are easy to use, and best of all, Google likes them. There are a ton of these sites out there, so this is a good way to build a lot of links back to your blog.

There are a couple of site that help automate this process for you. Sites like SocialPoster and SocialMarker do a good job of auto-filling information into the submit pages of the sites in their databases, so all you have to do is select the category you want to be listed under, paste your keywords, and submit. I have been using SocialPoster, and I have been seeing very quick results. I submitted a blog post in the afternoon and by that evening I had 2 listings in the top 10 for my chosen keyword phrase. I know there has been a lot of questions about posting your own material to these sites, but if you don’t do it, who will? The thing is, these sites want to be relevant, and that won’t happen if it becomes a place for bloggers to spam their own content. The trick is to share the love. A general rule of thumb is to submit 3 other pieces for every one of your own. Some of that could be form another one of your blogs, but all of your submissions should not come from the same domain.

Make it a habit to submit your favorite sites. When you are at the social bookmark sites, vote for a few articles that you see. Take part in the community. The more you are involved, the more the sites will like you and pay attention to what you submit. Take advantage of the Love Karma – the more you give, the more you get.

The key is to get as many quality links a you can, especially from sites that Google has ranked higher than yours. The more links you build, the more relevant Google thinks you are. It’s another step in the process of climbing the Google ladder one rung at a time.
